Behind the Scenes

Born in London England to Caribbean parents, Colin “DJDEEM” Smith migrated to the United States in 1979 and spent his adolescent life in Connecticut, surrounded by family, friends and good music. Following cues taken from his father, he began his deejay career in the spring of 1982, influenced by the birth of Hip-Hop culture, MTV and an adoration for all genres of music.  As a high school youth, he became a highly requested deejay at school dances and private events as while as exploiting his talents as a music producer.  Immediately after high school, he was presented with an opportunity as a college radio deejay at WESU FM at Wesleyan University, where he completed a 15-year tenure as a disc jockey and community volunteer liaison.  He also performed as a deejay at numerous college and commercial radio stations throughout the New England area.  As one of the state’s most sought-after self-taught DJ/Producers, Colin “DJDEEM” Smith has built a respectable reputation as a professional deejay and notable music producer.

In 1990, Blue Chip Entertainment was created, spotlighting DJDEEM’s high level of quality in the realm of deejay entertainment services for weddings, private parties, concerts, corporate, government and non-profit events.   His services have expanded to include up-lighting and special event lighting décor through the use of high-powered LED lights.   

This service significantly changes the ambiance of any room or event creating a lively, exquisite, dynamic and entertaining atmosphere.
